Modern electric steering racks often contain an integrated electronic power steering module. After rack-and-pinion replacement, the module may need software programming, vehicle configuration, coding, initialization, centering or steering-related calibration.
Power steering failure, hard steering, warning lights and steering assist faults do not automatically mean the rack is defective. Low voltage, damaged power or ground circuits, CAN network faults, steering-angle sensor issues and internal mechanical problems can cause similar symptoms. We test the system before programming when diagnosis is needed.
