These names commonly describe the controller responsible for engine operation. Depending on the vehicle, a replacement module may require software installation, VIN writing, configuration, immobilizer synchronization or cloning before the engine can operate correctly.
When the manufacturer and module permit it, we can program or correct the VIN stored in a compatible used replacement ECU, ECM, PCM or other supported control module. Proof of vehicle ownership may be required. Some security-locked modules must be reset, cloned or replaced instead.
Used controllers are not automatically interchangeable. We check part numbers, engine configuration, software compatibility and security requirements before programming, VIN correction or transferring data.
If an ECU does not communicate, programming is not the first step. We test power, ground and network communication before attempting software work. This helps prevent unnecessary module purchases and failed programming sessions.
Text the year, make, model, VIN, module type, whether the module is new or used, and what diagnostics have already been completed. Photos of the original and replacement labels are helpful.
